Theme Installation
Stay is a Child Theme of the parent theme Genesis Framework.
Section Builder
The theme has a built-in section builder. This section builder allows you to create multiple sections in a page.
To enable the section builder, go to Pages -> Add New. In the Page Attributes -> Template -> select Section template
The following are the available section types.
- Carousel – will display all portfolio items in a carousel.
- Column Blocks – will create 2, 3, 4 blocks.
- Column Split – will create a 2-column block with image, slider and video option.
- Custom Shortcode Section – suitable for using features/elements using shortcode
- Header Text – used for headings
- Hero Image – a fullwidth or wrap header image.
- Map – will show a map. Map requires API key in order to work. Create a Google API key and add it in Appearance -> Customize – Google Map API
- Slider – will display slider of images
- Portfolio – display portfolio items in grid
- Post Type Block – will display 2, 3 and 4 column blocks of custom post types
- Full Slider – will show a fullwidth slider.
Setting Up Homepage
- To have a blog homepage, go to Settings -> Readings -> Front Page Displays -> Your Latest Posts.
- To have a static front page, go to Settings -> Readings -> Front Page Displays -> Static Page. And select the page you want to set as frontpage
Widget Areas
The following are the widget areas of Stay theme.
- Primary Sidebar – It’s the default sidebar
- Footer 1 – Footer 1 Widget Area
- Footer 2 – Footer 2 Widget Area
- Footer 3 – Footer 3 Widget Area
Portfolio
The portfolio serves as a gallery. Portfolio options that need to be fill are:
- Title
- Featured Image
- Portfolio Category
- Porfolio Option for video ( Optional )
Page Template
Stay has 5 page templates: Default Template, Archive, Blog, Gallery and Section
- “Default Template” – the default Genesis page template.
- “Archive” – the default Genesis archive template.
- “Blog” – the default Genesis blog template.
- “Gallery” – this is the template used to display the portfolio/gallery items.
- “Section” – the page template is for section builder. To use the section builder, select this page template and click “Publish” and the “Section Builder” option will appear.
Theme Settings
Theme settings can be found in Appearance -> Customize. Available option/settings for the theme are the following:
- Font Style – Appearance -> Customize -> Font Style
- Accent Color – Appearance -> Customize -> Accent Colors.
- Google Map API – Appearance -> Customize -> Google Map API.
Customizing the Theme
The theme included the following file for customization.
- custom.css – this file is intended for CSS customization. If you want to change, add or override the existing theme style, place all your CSS here.
- custom_functions.php – this file is intended for adding some PHP codes. If you want to add filter and functions to the theme, you can place it here.
In this way, the code you added will not be overwritten if there’s an update to the theme.
How to Add Logo
- Go to Appearance -> Customize -> Site Identity -> Logo .
- Then in Appearance -> Customize -> Site Identity -> Use for site title/logo. Then select “Image Logo”
